Decent insurance, few hiccups

I got the International student insurance from Foyer Global Health. The initial quote was competitive, and the coverage details for outpatient services were clear. I found the website a bit clunky on my phone when I first tried to navigate it, but it worked fine on a desktop. Submitting my application was simple enough. I did have to wait about three days to get a confirmation email after paying, which felt a little long, but everything was in order once it arrived. Overall, it's good value for what I needed, but the mobile site could use some work.

Got my family covered

Needed expat family insurance and checked out Foyer. Getting the quote online was pretty straightforward, just filled out some basic stuff. The plan seemed to cover what we needed, like regular doctor visits and some dental. It felt pretty secure, you know, knowing we're covered internationally. The paperwork came through email without any fuss. All in all, a decent experience getting everyone sorted.

Good coverage, smooth process

I recently signed up for their Exclusive plan for my international assignment. The online quote system was straightforward, and I got a clear breakdown of the costs. I had a few questions about the inpatient coverage, and their support team responded to my email within a day, providing clear answers. The policy documents arrived promptly via email after payment. It covered everything I needed, including dental insurance, which was important for me. So far, the usability of their portal seems good for managing my policy.

Reliable choice again

This is my third year with Foyer Global Health. I've used their Essential plan for a while, and this time I upgraded to the Special plan for added maternity cover. What keeps me coming back is their consistency. The process for renewing was just as easy as signing up the first time. I haven't had to make a big claim yet, thankfully, but their service has always been dependable for routine questions and policy adjustments. It's a solid choice for expat health insurance.

Hey guys, thinking about Foyer for my expat insurance. Do they actually cover pre-existing stuff, or is that a huge hassle like with most places?

A Amber Hughes 2 months ago
Yeah, they do. I had a pre-existing condition and they covered it, but it depended on the plan I picked and there was definitely a waiting period. You gotta be upfront when you get the quote.

It's not a blanket 'yes' or 'no.' My friend got theirs covered but it was after a review, like they looked at the severity. Best to just ask for a quote with your specific condition.

Looking at Foyer for international student insurance. Does anyone know if there are any specific discounts for students, or is it just the usual annual payment kind of deal?

B Beth M. 2 months ago
Yeah, they have a student expat discount! I got one when I signed up. It wasn't a huge amount but every little helps.

I didn't see any special student codes, but I did get a discount for paying for the whole year upfront. Maybe that's what they mean? Or I just missed the student one.

How legit is Foyer Global Health? Never heard of them before but they seem to offer good coverage. Don't want to get scammed by some dodgy insurer.

R Rachel N. 2 months ago
They're totally legit. Been with them for three years now, no issues. Claims were handled professionally and quickly.

Nah, they're not a scam. They're part of Foyer, which is a big insurance group in Luxembourg. Used them myself, pretty solid.

Thinking between Foyer and Cigna Global. Anyone got experience with both or why Foyer might be better/worse?

B Brett Z. 2 months ago
I used Cigna before switching to Foyer. Foyer's plans felt a bit more tailored to expats, especially with the 24/7 assistance. Cigna was fine, but Foyer's customer service felt a bit more personal.

Depends on what you need. Foyer felt slightly more affordable for similar coverage levels for me, especially when you factor in the annual payment discount. Cigna's network might be bigger in some areas though, afaik.

Anyone know if Foyer Global Health does direct billing? Or am I going to be stuck paying upfront and then waiting ages for reimbursement?

G Greg R. 2 months ago
They do sometimes! Not everywhere, but for major hospitals, especially in bigger cities, it's pretty common. Saved my butt a few times.

I think it depends on the hospital. In some places, I've had to pay first and claim, but in others, they sorted it out directly. Always good to check with them or the hospital beforehand.
